photoblog image where is Prikkebeen???

where is Prikkebeen???

This mushroom is called the fly agaric...there are lots of them this year!!

It always reminds me of this little dutch song we use to sing as kids about a gnoom called "prikkebeen" that had this strange habit of sitting on mushrooms (in particular red ones with white dots!)

I did try to translate it into english but  that didn't make sence.....(prikkebeen is not in any dictionary...lol)

Maybe i should ask  Wim  to translate for us??   lol

Is it not called "Prickly Legs" or something, Petra? I had a quick scan in my own personal memory banks, having some Dutch friends of my own, and I seem to remember someone translating it to be that. Anyway, a fabulous shot of a famous toadstool - that's what the english call them. Seen in many a children's book, although as Georg says they are extremely poisonous. A wonderful autumn image!

Fabulous shot Petra, and so many of them together too. I've only seen them in ones and twos this year, and they were a much brighter red than these.

I always imagine a little gnome, with a pointed hat, sitting on top of them ... thinking up some form of mischief.
The Dutch children's song "Kabouter Prikkebeen" is about a gnome with spindly legs who uses a red toadstool as a seesaw. He is moving too wildly though and he falls on the with his legs in the air.
(Nice photo too!)
